It is very important to remember that You Own Your Own Behaviour; that is to say that you cannot control anyone else’s behaviour but your own.
Actions that students choose will have consequences.
• Good choices will result in praise and rewards (Maxim Merits are awarded to students for going above and beyond basic expectations and are celebrated in a number of different ways)
• Poor choices will result in consequences (The restorative measures and sanctions system is consistent across the school and gives students the opportunity to reflect on their actions and change their behaviour)
Read our Behaviour policy here.
Students will:
- Attend school everyday and on time
- Wear full school uniform in line with the Uniform Policy
- Bring the equipment required for each lesson including PE kit to ALL PE lessons
- Be prepared to work effectively with anyone else in your groups
- Complete work set to the best of your abilities both in class and at home
- Carry out reasonable and appropriate requests from staff
- Ask for support and guidance from staff to manage any problems
- Respect the facilities and equipment in and around the school
- Offer your opinions on ways to improve the school through the student council

There is a “positive atmosphere in classes and around the school”. Lessons are hardly ever disrupted

Teachers will:

- Create a focused start to learning with a knowledge retrieval starter activity followed by a visual aid to the learning journey and purpose of the lesson
- Take time to build positive relationships within the school
- Celebrate and value success both within and beyond the classroom
- Seek to de-escalate any incidents of poor behaviour by adopting a calm and reasoned, restorative coaching approach
- Use agreed Academy procedures to challenge disruptive behaviour or poor attitudes to learning
- Demonstrate resilience when overcoming obstacles and learn from their mistakes
- Complete all work tasks to a standard that reveals their pride and commitment to learning

We do not tolerate bullying or any form of prejudice and will always aim to deal with any such incidents swiftly. We have clear procedures for dealing with incidents, and we educate students about their behaviour. We support events such as Anti-Bullying week.
If bullying is taking place, students are encouraged to:
- Tell a member of staff
- Avoid conflict
- Surround themselves with supportive friends
- Report bullying
- Be supportive of one another
- Block any unwanted messages or friends who leave inappropriate comments on social media
