What Community & Family means to us

One of our Bexleyheath maxims is about Community and Family. As a school we want to:

  • support our parents
  • support the local community
  • be charitable
  • raise awareness of local and global causes

This page will be dedicated to the work we do at Lift Bexleyheath to do this.

Parkview Residential Care Home | A Christmas Wish...... | Friday, 19 December 2025

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our families for their generous donations throughout the past term in support of the residents at Parkview Residential Home. Thanks to this kindness, our students and staff were able to visit the care home and personally deliver gifts to the residents, bringing smiles, joy, and festive cheer during the Christmas period.

During the visit, students and staff spent valuable time with residents, offering companionship and conversation, especially meaningful for those who do not often receive visitors at this time of year. Each resident received a parcel filled with treats and thoughtful gifts, helping to create a warm and joyful Christmas atmosphere throughout the home.

Experiences like these are incredibly important for our students, as they encourage empathy, compassion, and a strong sense of community. By engaging with and supporting others, students learn the value of kindness, social responsibility, and meaningful human connection. We are proud of our students for representing the school so positively and for making a genuine difference in the lives of others.

Christmas Jumper Day | Thursday, 11 December 2025

On Thursday, our school proudly took part in Christmas Jumper Day, and it was wonderful to see so many students and staff embracing the festive spirit together. The day was filled with colour, cheer and a strong sense of community.

Thanks to the generosity of our school community, we raised over £100 for charity, helping to support those in need during the festive season. Events like this play an important role in developing our young people, encouraging empathy, social responsibility and an understanding of how small actions can make a meaningful difference.

By coming together for shared causes, students learn the value of kindness, teamwork and giving back, qualities that are essential as they grow into confident, compassionate young adults. We are incredibly proud of everyone who took part and helped make the day such a success.

Children in Need | November 2025

Our fantastic students at Lift Bexleyheath raised an impressive £167.97 in just one day for Children in Need, an achievement we are incredibly proud of. This annual fundraising effort helps support disadvantaged children and young people across the UK, particularly those affected by poverty, illness, disability, or trauma.

Children in Need provides vital grants to local organisations, funding projects that make a real difference in children’s lives. These initiatives can improve mental health and wellbeing, offer safety and support during times of crisis, and create opportunities that build confidence, develop life skills, and enrich everyday experiences. By contributing to this cause, our students are helping to ensure that more children and young people have the support, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive.

Students and staff adapted their uniform to have a pop of yellow to raise aware of this charity and their work.

Remembrance Day | November 2025

This week, Lift Bexleyheath came together as a community to honour Remembrance Day, taking time to reflect on the bravery, sacrifice, and service of those who have defended our country, both past and present. In the days leading up to the 11th of November, our Student Leaders continued to sell poppies across the school to raise funds for the Royal British Legion, an organisation that provides vital support to serving members of the Armed Forces, veterans, and their families. The Royal British Legion offers everything from financial and emotional support to rehabilitation services, housing assistance, and community programmes that ensure no service member or veteran is left behind.

On the day itself, students who are part of uniformed services, including the Army Cadets, Air Cadets, and Police Cadets, proudly wore their uniforms to school. These students played an important role in educating their peers about the responsibilities, values, and experiences associated with their areas of service. Their presence added a meaningful and personal dimension to our commemoration, reminding us of the dedication shown by young people within our own community.

Some of our students also represented their uniformed service in borough and national events across the week. We have included photos for you to see.

Mr Mack-Poole led a thoughtful and moving Remembrance Assembly, guiding students through the history and significance of the day. His key messages focused on gratitude, respect, and the importance of remembering not just the past, but also the ongoing sacrifices of today’s service personnel. He encouraged students to reflect on how they can show kindness, unity, and responsibility in their daily lives, qualities that honour the spirit of Remembrance.

Together, our school marked this important moment with dignity, reflection, and pride, ensuring that the stories and sacrifices of those who served and continue to serve are never forgotten.

Culture Day | July 2025

Lift Bexleyheath was alive with colour, music, and tradition as students and staff came together to celebrate Culture Day this week. An inspiring event that honoured the rich diversity within the school community.

Throughout the day, students had the chance to take part in a wide range of elective workshops designed to introduce them to global cultures through hands-on experiences. Workshops included Spanish Flamenco Dancing, Japanese Art, Bollywood Dancing, Italian Pizza Making, Caribbean Cooking, and a History of Yoruba/Fulani workshop. Each session gave students the opportunity to learn about cultural practices, history, food, and art in engaging and memorable ways.

Teachers proudly wore traditional attire representing their heritage, and many students also embraced the opportunity to dress in cultural clothing. The day concluded with a vibrant parade where students showcased their outfits with pride and joy.

After school, families joined the celebration, creating a true community atmosphere. The school extends heartfelt thanks to all the families who attended and supported the event.

Mr Rayner, Assistant Principal said: “At Bexleyheath Academy, we are proud to be the most diverse school in the borough and we love it. Culture Day is about more than celebration; it’s about education. When students learn about the different cultures in their community, they develop empathy, respect, and a deeper understanding of the world around them. These are values that will serve them for life.”

Events like Culture Day help build an inclusive environment where every student feels seen, valued, and celebrated. By encouraging curiosity and appreciation for different cultures, the school continues to foster unity in diversity.

The school is already looking forward to an even bigger and better Culture Day next year, one that promises to bring even more cultures, experiences, and people together in celebration.

Parkview Residential Care Home | Easter Gifting

On Friday, 04 April, our students went to Parkview Residential Care Home to spread Easter joy!

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the families who generously donated Easter eggs and boiled sweets for the residents at Parkview Residential Care Home. Your kindness and support helped make this student-led initiative a huge success, and we are incredibly proud of the compassion and thoughtfulness shown by our school community. It’s always inspiring to see our students take the lead on projects like this, and it’s a true reflection of the caring and socially minded young people we are nurturing here at Bexleyheath Academy.

Our students took great joy in personally delivering the treats to the residents, spending time chatting with them and brightening their day with smiles and thoughtful conversations. The impact was deeply felt on both sides, residents were touched by the kindness, and students came away with a sense of pride and connection. Experiences like this create meaningful memories, not just for those receiving the gifts, but also for our students who learn the value of empathy, community, and giving without expecting anything in return.

Community projects like this are incredibly important for student development. They provide a powerful opportunity for young people to step outside of their usual routines, understand different ways of life, and gain perspective on the challenges and joys of others. At Bexleyheath Academy, we believe in shaping well rounded individuals who not only achieve academically but also grow into kind, thoughtful, and responsible members of society. Thank you once again for helping us bring this vision to life, your generosity has made a real difference.

Saturday, 21 December | A Christmas Wish....

Students and their families came together with compassion and generosity to collect thoughtful gifts for the residents at Parkview Residential Care Home.

We delivered 82 parcels to the residents of things to bring them Christmas cheer! Thank you for kindness and generosity to make this possible.

The students not only delivered these heartfelt donations but also shared their time and joy with the residents, singing together and engaging in meaningful conversations about their life stories. This heart-warming initiative brought smiles and connection across generations, making a lasting impact on everyone involved. A heartfelt thank-you goes to the families for their incredible generosity and kindness in supporting this endeavour, demonstrating the true spirit of community and care.

Projects like these are vital for a child's development as they nurture essential social, emotional, and cognitive skills. Engaging in activities that involve generosity, empathy, and teamwork fosters a sense of responsibility and connection to their community. Participating in community outreach, like collecting gifts and spending time with care home residents, cultivates compassion, communication skills, and an appreciation for diverse life experiences. These projects build confidence, encourage creativity, and instil values that prepare children to be thoughtful, capable, and well-rounded individuals in the future.

We look forward to running this project next year!
