Year 11 Weekly Newsletter | Please find the Year 11 Weekly Newsletter from the Year 11 Team here.
Homework | Homework was issued to all students across our online learning platforms on Friday, 19 December. Students are expected to complete and submit their assignments by Thursday, 08 December, allowing a total of three weeks to work on the tasks. This extended time frame is designed to give students ample opportunity to plan, review, and complete their homework to a high standard.
Barclays LifeSkills | We are pleased to inform you that the Year 08 students took part in Barclays Skills for Life Day 01 workshop, focusing on the theme Exploring Personal Strengths. The session was designed to help students reflect on their individual skills, talents, and qualities, while developing greater self-awareness and confidence.
During the session, students engaged in a range of interactive activities that encouraged them to identify their strengths, understand how these can be applied in different situations, and recognise the importance of teamwork, communication, and resilience. The session also supported students in making connections between their personal strengths and future learning, careers, and life opportunities. We encourage parents and carers to continue these conversations at home and support their children in recognising and using their strengths in everyday life, particularly over the Christmas break, helping them to reflect and build confidence for the new term.
Students showed enthusiasm when sharing ideas and working collaboratively with their peers, demonstrating maturity and a positive attitude towards their learning.
Barclays LifeSkills forms an important part of our careers and personal development programme, supporting students to build essential employability skills from an early age. We look forward to continuing this programme with future sessions that will further develop students’ confidence, aspirations, and readiness for the world of work.
Spelling Bee | Our students proudly represented our school at the regional Spelling Bee this week, competing against participants from six other schools. Through dedication, focus, and strong language skills, they earned an impressive second place finish. Spelling bees play an important role in building vocabulary, improving spelling accuracy, and strengthening students’ confidence in public speaking and academic competition. They also encourage perseverance and a love of learning. We are especially proud of our students for their growth and determination, last year, our school placed fourth, making this year’s result a remarkable improvement. Their hard work truly paid off, and we celebrate their outstanding achievement.
Parkview Residential Care Home | A Christmas Wish...... | We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our families for their generous donations throughout the past term in support of the residents at Parkview Residential Home. Thanks to this kindness, our students and staff were able to visit the care home and personally deliver gifts to the residents, bringing smiles, joy, and festive cheer during the Christmas period.
During the visit, students and staff spent valuable time with residents, offering companionship and conversation, especially meaningful for those who do not often receive visitors at this time of year. Each resident received a parcel filled with treats and thoughtful gifts, helping to create a warm and joyful Christmas atmosphere throughout the home.
Experiences like these are incredibly important for our students, as they encourage empathy, compassion, and a strong sense of community. By engaging with and supporting others, students learn the value of kindness, social responsibility, and meaningful human connection. We are proud of our students for representing the school so positively and for making a genuine difference in the lives of others.
Christmas Concert | Our Christmas Concert was a wonderful celebration of creativity, talent, and festive spirit, and we are incredibly proud of all our students who took part. Throughout the event, students delighted the audience with a range of musical performances, including both solo and group numbers, showcasing their confidence, teamwork, and musical ability. In addition, drama performances brought stories to life on stage, entertaining and engaging everyone in attendance.
Alongside the performances, students also had the opportunity to showcase their artwork from this term. The display highlighted the creativity and effort that students have put into their learning, and it was fantastic to see their work celebrated and appreciated by the school community.
We would like to thank all families and friends who joined us for the concert. Your continued support and encouragement mean so much to our students and help make events like this truly special. The evening was a joyful way to celebrate the end of term and the hard work our students have put in throughout the year.
